Gemstone Lights Warranty & Maintenance—Everything Homeowners Need to Know

(Astoria Lighting Co Official Guide to Permanent Holiday Lighting)

Why This Post Matters

If you’re researching permanent holiday lighting for your home, three questions usually rise to the top:

  1. “What is the warranty, and how do you handle warranty claims?”
  2. “What happens if a bulb fails or the system malfunctions?”
  3. “How long will the lights last, and what maintenance is required?”

Below you’ll find straight, product‑specific answers based on Gemstone Lights™ hardware and Gemstone’s published warranty. No generic lighting talk, just the facts that apply to your future system.

1. What is the warranty, and how do you handle warranty claims?

Coverage Length Who Backs It What’s Included
The bulbs Lifetime* Astoria Lighting Co Every permanent holiday light bulb in your system
All other installed parts 10 years, bumper to bumper Astoria Lighting Co Power kits, controllers, cables, connectors and tracks
Labour and on‑site service 3 years Astoria Lighting Co Service Team On‑site repair or replacement, travel, ladders and lifts

*The lifetime cover on the bulbs rests on the manufacturer’s own testing, which gives an estimated lifespan of 50,000 hours. Customer‑caused damage is not covered.

How claims work, step by step

  1. Call, text, or open a service ticket from the Gemstone app or our website.
  2. Remote diagnostics. Many issues are firmware or configuration related, and we can often fix them the same day over the cloud or on the phone.
  3. On‑site visit (if needed). A certified technician schedules a time convenient for you. Parts are covered if the issue falls under the warranty, and labour is covered for the first three years after installation.
  4. Documentation & transfer. Selling the house? Gemstone’s warranty can be passed on once within the 10‑year parts period, giving the new owner up to two years of the remaining cover, as long as the transfer is completed within 90 days.

2. What happens if a bulb fails or the system malfunctions?

  • Modular, individually addressable LEDs. Each Gemstone LED node can be replaced in minutes without bringing down the rest of the strand.
  • Hot‑swap design. Technicians carry pre‑terminated pigtails and can swap a node without soldering or cutting.
  • Replacements under warranty. The parts are covered, and labour for the first three years after installation.
  • After the labour warranty. Our published service fee is $145 per hour with a one hour minimum, plus the cost of any materials needed.

3. How long do the lights last, and what kind of maintenance is required?

Lifespan

Component Rating
LED nodes 50,000 hours, the manufacturer’s tested lifespan estimate, which Gemstone equates to about 20 years at 7 hours of use per day. Seasonal‑only use stretches much further, since the calendar life depends entirely on how many hours a day you run the lights.
Aluminum track Factory coloured and UV‑stable aluminium
Controller & power IP67 sealed, 12‑volt low‑voltage; designed for heat, humidity, and cold

Maintenance Checklist (Once a Year)

  1. Visual walk‑around. Make sure trees, gutters, and downspouts haven’t pushed on the track.
  2. Gutter cleaning. Keeps debris from obstructing the light path.
  3. Firmware update. The app will prompt you; press “update” and you’re done.
  4. Soft wash (optional). If you pressure‑wash your home, use a wide fan tip and stay 12″ away from the track, no harsh chemicals needed.

That’s it. No bulb‑twisting, cord untangling, or climbing ladders every year.
